Responsibilities
The Accountant III will support financial operations across a range of publicly funded programs. Responsibilities include preparing financial reports and reconciliations, reviewing grant expenditures, and ensuring overall fiscal compliance with federal, state, and internal requirements. This role involves cross-departmental collaboration, guiding program managers on allowable costs, and supporting budgeting and allocation efforts.

Core duties include:

• Preparing grant financial reports, tenant ledgers, and reconciliations.
• Reviewing and approving vendor and subcontractor payment documentation.
• Allocating costs using established methodologies and ensuring expenses align with funding guidelines.
• Supporting cost allocation planning, budget variance analysis, and technical assistance for program teams.
• Maintaining compliance with fiscal and audit standards through ongoing review of journal entries, vouchers, and transaction testing.

Education, Experience, and Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration on Accounting or Finance.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in governmental or grant-funded accounting.
• Familiarity with cost allocation methodologies and grant billing processes is a must!
• Hands-on experience with grant accounting systems and internal audit practices.
• Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Strong understanding of budget controls, fiscal policy, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to interpret accounting theory, structure financial systems, and communicate financial information clearly.
• Knowledge of 2 CFR Part 200 (Federal grant compliance) is strongly preferred.
